R|A|A|N
"The Nacrasti" CD
(Treatment02) Malignant Antibody
R|A|A|N delivers dark-ambient in it's classic
pure-form, at times, conjuring the spirit of Heresy-era Lustmord or
vintage Raison D'Etre. Heavy ritualistic drones, sporadic rhythmic
accents, and deep subsonics that will vibrate your very core. An ideal
blend of thick warm analog and sharp digital sound that bridges the
gap between old and new technology. Thematically, The Nacrasti explores
an ancient desert culture that was advanced beyond its time and yet
long forgotten by history. Your dark evolving journey into this lost
"Nacrastan" landscape is streaked with the warm hue of sun-bleached
rock, sand, gold, and fire. A serenely brooding work with a myriad
of nocturnal sub-textures. At times a subtle, almost alien combination
of sounds. Proof-positive that dark-drones can intone an element of
beauty and power. A very promising debut from an equally promising
new talent. An album that will leave you excited for what comes next
and a critical new addition to every dark-ambient collection..

RAISON
D'ETRE "Prospectus I" CD
(cmi18) Cold Meat Industry
A stunning blend of the modern 'soft' gothic
sound and the timeless chants of Catholic rituals. It it at once a
beautiful sound, yet also filled with melancholy. Nine movements in
samples, loops, slow powerful drums, orchestrations, bells, keyboards,
chants, echoes, sustained notes... feeling like the inside of a factory
or a haunted monastery. Another one to sit alone in the dark with.

D'ETRE "The Empty Hollow Unfolds" CD
(cmi78) Cold Meat Industry
This is a grim travelogue from the land where
the sun never rises; grievous keyboard overlayed by factory noises
and the trademark chanting monks turns this into some of the most
unsettling listening since of Lustmord's 'Paradise Disowned'.

D'ETRE "Requiem For Abandoned Souls" CD
(cmi128) Cold Meat Industry
This remarkably beautiful collection of songs
is a true remedy in this age of chaos; when the outside withers away,
the inside fills with emptiness, and there's nothing left to believe
in.

RAISON
D'ETRE "Reflections From The Time Of Opening" CD
(cmi138) Cold Meat Industry
‘Reflections From the Time of Opening’
contains a selected collection of the very earliest material by raison
d’être, now finally available on Cold Meat Industry. The
album shows the first phases in the development of raison d’être
and should rather be seen as a documentation album of that time more
than a conceptual album. ‘Reflections From the Time of Opening’
sounds quite different from later and established raison d’être
sound, but that makes it not less enjoyable. Also included on the
disc are the compilation tracks from ‘The Absolute Supper’
(Cold Meat Industry) and Funeral Songs’ (Crowd Control Activities)
and re-mixes of the two remaining tracks from the first raison d’être
CD ‘Prospectus I’ (track re-mixes of ‘Prospectus
I’ can also be found on Collective Archives’ and ‘Lost
Fragments’).

RAPOON
/ CISFINITUM "Mental Travellers" CD
(hhe012) Ewers Tonkunst
Those looking for a relatively calm music, with
transcendental accents and even, at times, some slightly middle-eastern
influenced undertones, alternating with passages of a nature that
is more death-ambient oriented, but often peppered with slow synthetic
rhythms with an old-school sound, will be pleased. Rei Rea is one
of our recent discoveries, a Montreal secret that is still kept too
well. Rei Rea is a series of oneiric vignettes which are halfway between
the first Muslimgauze releases and the music of American project Stone
Glass Steel. An epic dimension seems to shine in every twist and turn,
every echo, every drift that this disc has to let out. Furthermore,
the term psychedelic, which has been used
to describe a zillion things since the sixties, here has a most affirmed
meaning. A daydream. We strongly urge all dreamers out there to discover
this release!

REUTOFF
"Three Withered Souls" 2XCD
(hhe010) Ewers Tonkunst
This 2CD-set is a reissue of the first two Reutoff albums –
“Das Absterben” and “Three Souls For A Reasonable
Price”. Both albums have been released as tapes back in 1998
on their own private label House Of Mirkmoon and later re-issued as
very limited CDRs in a special package by Blade in Italy. This CD
edition contains all the original tracks newly mixed from original
sources and then carefully mastered. The result sounds quite different
from the original mixes, giving the chance to hear finally the full
complexity of the initial ideas of this early Reutoff material. Four
bonus tracks – new versions of the compilation tracks from same
period including remix of the famous “Black Mirror” –
have been added to complete the whole new look on the very roots of
the most well-known Russian industrial band on today’s international
scene. The sleeve design is again made by cmart who is responsible
for the great artwork of “Regno di pianta” CD and “Kreuzung”
LP. The 2CD-set comes in a full-colour fold-out digisleeve and limited
to 500 copies.

ROBERT
RICH "Humidity" 3CD
(hyp2020) Hypnos
Released
in February 2000, this triple-CD set of 1998 Robert Rich live recordings
(from shows in Stanford, Venice, and Pasadena, California) is one
of the most hotly anticipated releases ever for Hypnos (actually a
Hypnos/Soundscapes co-release). Over three hours of music, utilizing
some of the techniques of Rich's renowned "Sleep Concerts,"
as well as some sounds and interpretations of his highly-regarded
collaboration with B. Lustmord, STALKER. Fans of all phases of Rich's
career will want to have this. The live tapes have been carefully
remastered by Robert himself to match the extraordinary standards
of his studio recordings. This is one we're very proud of, and one
that is sure to rank among Rich's most important works.

ROBERT
RICH "Sunyata" CD
(hyp1926) Hypnos
SUNYATA
was Robert Rich's first solo release, dating back to 1982. It has
been out of print for 15 years, and has remained one of his most obscure
recordings. SUNYATA came from the same period as Robert's first Sleep
Concerts, and reflects a similar deep slow motion. Carefully remastered
in 1999, this reissue complements next year's release of the seven-hour
"Somnium", summarizing Robert's excursions into the slowest
realms of psychoactive music.

ROBERT
RICH "Inner Landscapes" CD
(hyp1915) Hypnos
From
the liner notes: "INNER LANDSCAPES documents portions of a concert
from 1985. This represents a growth period for me, when I wanted to
perform shorter concerts that were completely improvised, while still
maintaining the intensity of my all-night sleep concerts. At the time,
"shorter" meant three hours with no break. I released two
live albums from this era, and of these I think INNER LANDSCAPES holds
up better over time. It's one of my few live recordings from this
period that captures a bit of the thick atmosphere of the event. While
editing it for CD release I had to choose from over two hours of tape,
giving me a chance to restructure the crossfades and remove some weaker
material. It's different from the original, and translates better
to CD."

RUKKANOR
"Despartica" CD
(wop44) War Office Propaganda
Despartica
is a collection of impressions, situations and moments in life. The
particular parallel between lyrics based on old poetry (Blake, Yeats,
Rosetti etc), and all that happens nowadays, often creates an atmosphere
of bitter reflection and irony. Desires, beliefs, dreams, emotions,
experiences, the beauty of life and the sight of inevitable death
in 19th and 20th Century poems "framed" by varied music
- from strong industrial rhythms to romantic ballads with melancholic
recitations and singing. Guest vocals from Reinhard Hopfe (Stahlwerk
9). Very different to the usual Rukkanor sound! Digipak.
