SALA
"Schut entering worts" CD
(acd006) Autarkeia
Ritual ambient starting from hypnotic mantras, the music gradually
unravels strong and mystical ambient, the main feature of which being
reiteration transmitted by the sound loops. These are organically
supplemented by the tabors, bells, magic spells and mysterious sounds
floating from the distance and generating only the strong mystic mood
of the audience. Actually, concerning the impact, this music is in
line with the works of world's famous artists acting in this field,
Coil, NWW, Omenya, Hybryds, Deutsch Nepal. The "Schut enteRing
worts" album was recorded by the participants of SALA project
when experimenting with Brion Gysin's dream machine, which formerly
inspired the well-known William S.Burroughs and had a strong psychedelic
effect .Packed in a nontypical black plastic DVD case. Limited

SEPHIROTH
"Draconian Poetry" CD
(CMI152) Cold Meat Industry
Draconian Poetry is the new album by Sephiroth, a much anticipated
sequel to the 1999 debut, Cathedron, which in itself still finds and
enthralls new listeners six years down the road. Once again, Sephiroth
takes us along on a trip to the twilight zone inbetween darkness and
dawn, to forgotten cities and distant, barely remembered lands, where
ancient rituals and Eastern influences meet pounding metallic poly-rhythms
emanating from subterranean catacombs. If Cathedron moved along the
deep green/blue axis on the chromatic scale - as in the hues of the
jungle and the ocean - Draconian Poetry arrives in the earth-tinted
spectrum: the brownish soil, the corroding greyness of withering,
weather-beaten ruins, and the blindingly green setting sun. Sephiroth
is there to meet you, bidding you welcome at the crossroad where civilization
ends and the unexplored begins; the threshold where dull reality is
terminated in favor of boundless fantasy....

SKADI
"Eliwagar" CD
(ART 41) Art Konkret
After his online debut-album “Vergangenheit und Gegenwart”
wich received very good reviews - released at www.lichttaufe.de -
follows his first official CD release on ART-KONKRET. The Goddess
of hunting and of the winter in the germanic mythology is Skadi. So
the CD starts with cold and mystical soundscapes, followed by rituell
percussive elements. Skadi creates a dark athmosphere with chants,
dark dronings, strings, natural sounds but also with percussions and
bells. Because of this SKADI is an interesting mixture of various
dark ambient soundscapes. The project is attractive in its diversified
parts. Similarities to projects like Sephiroth respectively Ulf Söderberg,
Triarii or Vinterriket can be noticed, without being another copy
of them. Opposingly to many monotonous dark ambient projects - which
only well disposed listener will be able to differ one track from
another, SKADI appears as a catchy project by its rhythmic and melodical
elements with Tune Wedgie character. Eliwagar is the soundtrack for
the forthcoming cold wintertimes.

Hollow vocal samples and echoing percussions in the behind pull the

rhythm. You will discover also ritual incluences but also dark ambient
soundwork. The some of nothing album is all in all very varietal and

Cold

Ultra deep, glacial Dark Ambient, based around Antarctic co-ordinates.
The polar regions are awe-inspiring environments of inhospitable minimalism,
and at the same time there's a beautiful serenity to be found in their
uncharted bleakness. There's a powerful purity and a timelessness
to be found there; snow which has lain un-trampled for millennia and
ice which formed eons ago; mountain ranges and deserts and rivers
to be found if you look. 'Deep Frieze' is SRF's second album for Cold

SOULSEARCH
"Liedersammlung" CD
(Ahnstern16) Ahnstern
classic Pagan-Doom Folkmetal with strong and heroic german lyrics
and many medieval elements. Soulsearch started in the early 90ies
to create their own, unique style, which would today be called Folkmetal.
but at that time Soulsearch were alone in the fields. 10 years later,
Folkmetal (or Metalfolk) as we know it nowadays, began to establish
as a own musicstyle. all songs on this album were recorded between
1993 and 2000. The CD includes the final Soulsearch release: the 10"
IHERNO from 2000, which was limited to only 100 copies. the other
songs are a fine selection from their early albums (each album has
sold 3000 to 5000 copies in the 90ies!) + one unreleased track. after
they split in 2001, two ex-Soulsearch members joined again in 2005
and founded together with a third musician OUR SURVIVAL DEPENDS ON
US, a more NEUROSIS-orientated formation. another ex-Soulsearch member
(Haju) is one of the basic-members of STURMPERCHT. Haju and the guys
from O.S.D.O.U. recently formed MAGDALENA, who will release their

STORMFAGEL
"Ett berg av fasa" CD
(cmi171) Cold Meat Industry
Stormfågel, Swedish born Andreas Neidhardt and Hungarian vocalist
Eva Mag, are back to bless us with a surprisingly phenomenal new work!
The music of Stormfagel combines ethnic sounding neofolk compositions
sung in Hungarian by Eva, with martial tinged orchestral selections
sung by Andreas and Eva together, and their new album, "Ett Berg
Av Fasa", impregnates with a beautiful blend of their very special
mixture of Swedish / Hungarian martial neofolk orchestrations. The
strong and confident voice of Eva Mag sings across the music, in Swedish
and in Hungarian as traditional chants, which works extraordinary
well with the dark romantic orchestral strings and ritualistic martial
drummings, the violins, the bells, keyfiddle and woodwinds. Marching
forward over fields, through ancient woods; Stormfågel has made
its nest and is here to stay. The album is mastered by Jouni Havukainen
(In Slaughter Natives) and again presented in a nice digipak.

STURMAST
"Ibis Redibis Nunquam In Bello Peribis" CD
(cmi175) Cold Meat Industry
Sturmast from Hungary plays a unique kind of
folk influenced martial industrial music. The music contains powerful,
eruptive live drums (toms, snare, bass drum), haunting violin and
cello, acoustic guitar, and a selection of traditional folk instruments
(e.g. kaval, jaw harp). Even the keyboards are "live" recorded
in some ways, and a considerable part of the samples and special effects
are made by the band itself. Absorbing atmosphere links the compositions
which vary from hypnotic monotonous to marching repetitive, from moody
experimental to beautiful, melancholy-filled delicate. The lyrics,
portraying the fight of the historic and modern, spiritual and secular,
uplifting and ill-fated, are mostly in Hungarian (one song is in German),
with English translations in the stylish digipak with booklet.

STURMPERCHT
"Geister Im Waldgebirg" CD
(percht07) Steinklang Records
"Geister im Waldgebirg" is a journey
through the deepest central-European forests and mountains with all
their strange creatures, fairies, myths and legends. the sounds and
lyrics on this album are engrained in old pagan rites and cults, in
hunters-legends and in tales from darkest woods and the people living
there. the songstyles vary from powerful Martial-Folk hymns, over
fragile Folk-balads, to weird songs about strange people and creepy
animals. several great artists supported Sturmpercht in the making
of this album: first af all Axel from WERKRAUM, who is a basic Sturmpercht-member
since quite a while now. it's Axels perfect guitar- and flute playing
and his skillful hands in mixing, that the Folk-songs have this brilliant
late 60ies/early 70ies touch now. the close Sturmpercht-friends ALLERSEELEN,
SANGRE CAVALLUM and WALDTEUFEL have also recorded fantastic songs
especially for this album. Allerseelen and Sangre Cavallum also contributed
several sounds from their large archives and Waldteufel additionally
gave his voice for "Riesenbrüder". Sturmpercht is the
only Folk-band, who created their own music style named "ALPIN-FOLK",
which is absolutely unique up to now. anyway if you prefer straight
or weird Folk: there is no way around this album for all kinds of
Folk-Lovers. this album will be your closest friend in dark and frosty
winter nights!

SUBINTERIOR
"Obstacles" CDR
(df021) Deserted factory
Although we don't get to hear who is behind
Subinteror, he is also involved, as a drummer, in a band called Weltschmerz
and one called Canaan, plus a dark ambient/industrial project Coma
Divine. As Subinteror he works with field recordings, mostly of a
nocturnal kind (safety doors, lapping wheels, industrial refrigeration
plants etc., which sound like recorded at night), which are then transformed
through the use of software. The six resulting pieces are all quite
alright within the realms of dark ambient with industrial touches.
The metallic rumbling of someone trying to break down the fence around
the factory area are embedded in stretched out fields of captured
wind sounds and slowed down conveyer belts. In it's genre nothing
new under the moon, but well executed. Seems like made to measure
for a label with such a name. FdW / Vital Weekly

SVARROGH
"Balkan Renaissance" CD
(Ahnstern24)
Ahnstern
The Bulgarian Black Folklore ensemble Svarrogh of Dimo Dimov has recorded
another masterpiece of Ritual Folk music. "Balkan Renaissance"
is already the 4th Svarrogh album under the banner of the god of the
sun. This mystic sound-journey drags you along to the ancient heart
of the Balkan mountains, its caves, rivers, villages and people with
their deep mythological roots. Svarrogh's sound is absolutely unique,
not only because of the beautiful mandoline-playing and the bagpipes,
mixed with droning synths, which envocate the return of the sun. Svarrogh
creates a musical look through a grey window to discover the dark
past of Bulgaria´s 19th century and its Renaissance, after years
of osman opression. On "Balkan Renaissance" you can listen
to original passages of famous bulgarian poets and artists like Dora
Gabe, Elisaveta Bagryan, Elin Pelin, Dimitar Talev or the amazing
poems of Ivan Vazov. On this album, Dimo Dimov also pays a tribute
to the genious music of Allerseelen with the song "Kamerad".
And as a special feature, the CD will also contain a so called Martenitsi.
Martenitsa is a Bulgarian heathen/pagan tradition related to March
1, which has its origin in the establishment of the Bulgarian state
in 681 AD. Mart is the Bulgarian word for "March". According
to Bulgarian folklore, the month March marks the beginning of springtime.
Therefor, the first day of March is a traditional holiday associated
with sending off the winter and welcoming the spring. Key-figures
in these ancient traditional rites are the Kukeri, the demons who
banish winter and invite spring and fertility. The Kukeri are the
Balkan counterpart to the Austrian and south Bavarian Perchten. This
album is full of traditional-, pagan- and ritual Folk music, Neo-Classical
songs, Martial drummings and it has even some Industrial moments.
