VEIL
OF SECRECY "S/T" CD
Triumvirate
"Slow paced, grinding sheets of sound hover
over dark vibrations, intoned with cold, metallic scraping that stews
together in a reverberating, expansive landscape of ambient noise.
The repetition is soothing and hypnotic, as mysterious masses of thick
tonality envelope odd, distant noises that invoke a bleak, industrial
landscape thriving with the slight hum of engines and the muffled
throes of machinery."~ Ben Didier - (Outburn)

VELEHENTOR
"Sak-Yelga" CD
(eep003) Eternal pride
A project by 121 (ex-Satt) one of the famous
band VALHALLA & Closing The Eternity from Ekaterinburg. Postapocalyptic
Dark Wave/Power industrial with radical anti-life position. VELEHENTOR
is still trying to find “Black Pearls” in the planet’s
past and future. This time the “treasure” is hidden in
the river Sak-Yelga, one of the dirtiest rivers on Earth, where the
concentration of copper exceeds the permissible maximum 800 times
– and the city of Karabash, situated on its banks. This settlement,
full of slag with some lead and arsenic and surrounded by the remains
of the forests burnt by sulphur is located at a dead-end siding of
the South Ural railway. It has a second name – Pirit, which
in Russian is an anagram of the word “yperite”. It fully
reflects what people living and born there have to experience - central
nervous system and glands deseases, cancer and mental disorder. This
album is limited to only 333 copies and is designed in a in a DVD-box
with an 8-page booklet.

VETROPHONIA
"Shumographika" CD
(ssr-05013) Strange sound Records
Second album from this collaborative project
between Russian activists Nick Soudnick (ZGA) and Alexander Lebedev-Frontov
(Linija Mass / Stalnoy Pakt). "While somewhat more accessible
than "Simultannostb", "Promzona" carries over
much of the same elements but in a more refined form, resulting in
what is possibly their best release yet. Oxygen-starved symphonic
loops, industrial field recordings, worker's speech samples, the sounds
of a gramophone from the workshop and metallic clangs form a soundtrack
to a desolate world of slowly sinking tugboats and aborted construction
sites." [Mechanoise Labs] True Russian Industrial music! Comes

VIDNA
OBMANA "Anthology 1984-2004" CD
(Ikon/Projekt157)
vidna Obmana's anthology 1984 - 2004 release marks his 10 years celebration
and covers vidna's oeuvre from 1984 up till 2004. For the first time
ever, this anthology links vidnaObmana's most successful ambient period
with his most obscure earlier phase. A period in his career that vidnaObmana
refused to recognize up till a year ago when he realized that his
experimental and noise phase created the foundation for what he has
produced up till now. 12 selections range in style from ambient music
in the vein of River of Appearance and his ambient Trilogy to harsh
noise electronics from the early 80's. An unique and provocative document
confirming vidnaObmana's essential position in the field of electronic
and modern experimental music. This CD, the first in a series of anthologies
also stands for the birth of vidnaObmana's own label Ikon (This first
release is in alliance with Projekt). The circle is complete and a
new path lies ahead.

VIDNA
OBMANA "Noise/Drone Anthology 1984-1989" CD (Ikon/Projekt169)
Noise/Drone Anthology 1984-1989 is the 2nd release for vidnaObmana's
Ikon label in conjunction with Projekt. After the well-received 20th
anniversary anthology, vidnaObmana selected and re-mastered rare and
unreleased pieces from his obscure and unfamiliar noise and experimental
phase between 1984 and 1989. All pieces were taken from old cassette
masters and unreleased studio sessions, thus a lot of time and energy
was invested in securing a high sound quality for this CD release.
Expect a provoking combination of early drone and atmospheric pieces
with sonic assaults of noise and vocal experiments. The collection
includes collaborative pieces with cassette-network pioneers Kapotte
Muziek, PBK and Big City Orchestra. An essential compilation that
re-confirms vidnaObmana's significance in the independent electronic
and experimental music scene. It also shows the listener vidnaObmana's
early foundation in meditative music, the path that followed over
the next 20 years.

CD
(bmm008-07) Bad Moon Man
Another disc from Germany's prolific act Vinterriket. On the Dark
Ambient side of Vinterriket's personality, the sounds are cold, monolithic,
dark and desolate. "Kaelte..." features acoustic reinterpretations
of earlier songs from the period 2002-2004 ("Winterschatten"
CD, "Aura" 7", "Im Ambivalenten Zwielicht Der
Dunkelheit" 7", "Kaelte" 7").

VIRIDIAN
SUN "Solar Noise" CD
(hyp1703) Hypnos
A rich exploration into sonic textures and nuances. Listeners often
describe this sound experience in terms of the sights or emotions
it inspires, rather than how it sounds. Features M. Griffin (synthesizers)
and David Tollefson (treated guitars). "The sounds produced by
the interaction of Griffin's ambient synthesizers and Tollefson's
experimental guitar work can be difficult, but they are always intriguing.
The music of Viridian Sun is unlike anything else coming out of the
ambient well these days, and they will hopefully continue to challenge
and enlighten their listeners for a long time to come."

VIRIDIAN
SUN "Perihelion" CD
(hyp1910) Hypnos
Following solo releases by both members (synthesist & Hypnos founder
Mike Griffin, and guitar experimentalist David Tollefson), sonic adventurers
Viridian Sun follow up their daring, acclaimed debut, SOLAR NOISE.
PERIHELION goes in a slightly new sonic direction, but retains the
intuitive, improvisational approach. The focus remains on creating
highly visual and evocative soundscapes, an ever-evolving construction
of loops and drifting background textures, both hypnotic and beautiful.

VIROLOGIC
"Bugged" MCD
(PAS 13) Power And Steel
After several years of defining and re-structuring this concept Predominance
is back with his new side project: "The main intention of Virologic
is the designing of sounds from computer data. Different types of
computer files have been cracked in a sampling software that transforms
any kind of data into raw sound. It is possible to analyse the different
structures of any data-type as a potential source visible as graphic
waveform. At that point the process of manipulation begins and the
pure data-sounds are transformed with an addition of a lot of multi-effects
into audio-files. These so especially designed sounds and loops were
edited in another multi-track recording software and some further
global effects were mixed into the tracks. With an implicit aesthetics
of failure the structure of the original file is destroyed to its
core and reflecting the metaphorical bug on its way through the hard
drive." The result is a well structured composition made out
of pulsating rhythms, multi-layered sounds and quartered sonics.

VISIONS
"Celestial Sphere" 10" Vinyl
(A.R.10.01) Angle-Rec
Visions, or the thousand and one perspectives
of the intersidereal infinite, transposed into sounds conjuring spherical
images. Frédéric Arbour, with his Visions project, released
the "Lapse" cd in 2005 on his own label Cyclic Law, and
this album stands out as one of our faves of that year in terms of
ambient music. So its not surprising that we were enchanted
by the 2 unreleased tracks Visions submitted to us towards the end
of that same year, and that we decided to make a 10 maxi
with those tracks. The sound themes and perspectives proposed within
the 2 tracks are numerous, and they harmonize in a sublimely complex
and thoughtful way. The main backdrop is composed of dark synthetic
layers which stretch towards the infinite, and which welcome gradually,
among others, sound motifs that are acoustically generated and that
echo each other, reinforcing the effect of sound vortex into which
the listener is dragged. Ethereal melodies accentuate the epic character
of this odyssey into the unfathomable interstellar immensity. A release
which will appeal to fans of dark-ambient, of course, but which will
also delight fans of atmospheric music in general!

VOICES
OF THE DEAD DVDR
Zhelezobeton
Video - Yuri Elik
Sound - Gosha Solnzev, Yuri Elik
DVD-R (ltd. 250)
Photographer and videoartist Yuri Elik is primarily known as one of
the founders and permanent members of multimedia project 2012, creating
audio-video installations on various contemporary art festivals (SKIF,
Heilige Feuer, Multivision, etc.). Apart from this Yuri performs on
his own making video- and slide-shows for a number of experimental
musical bands in St. Petersburg. Yuri is also the video show author
for the performances of Simon Magus ballet written by D. Kakhovskiy
and the designer of several CD artworks and websites. Gosha Solnzev
(also known as "Van Gog" - 1g0g) - big industrial showman,
leader of the project Noises of Russia well-known in Russia, organizer
of several festivals, such as "Noise vs. Glamour", "Military
Days", "Noisy Women", etc. Gosha has always claimed
that he plays funeral music, so it's no wonder he showed interest
in the phenomenon of voices of the dead, discovered by Friedrich Jürgenson
in the late 50s of the past century. Electronic Voice Phenomenon (voices
of the dead, Raudive voices) are the voices of anomalous origin appearing
while making records on tape recorders or other electronic audio devices.
EVP researches claim and have proof that this is a possible way of
communication between physical and some other non-physical planes
of existence.
The exploration of this phenomenon led to an effective cooperation
between Van Gog and Yuri which resulted in a series of live performances
with the "Voices of the Dead" program and this short film,
with 24 minutes an obscure psychedelic drama evolving in front of
the spectator. A multi-layered collage of concrete visual images and
kaleidoscopic colour fields constantly transforms, accompanied by
unusual and uneasy sombre ambient with real voices of the dead samples
interlaced in it's structure.
As a bonus this disk also contains a 12-min. slide-film "City
Spirits": alternation of photos by Yuri Elik with his own soundtrack
constructed from city noises. Yuri skillfully focuses attention on
subtleties of usual things that remain unseen to the eye of a usual
human being, generally too busy with thinking over his insubstantial
problems and forgetting about the beauty of the world surrounding
him.
The release is packed in a special cardboard sleeve and goes with
a booklet with an encyclopaedic reference about the phenomenon of
electronic voices.
