There is doom metal and there is doooooom metal.
Well, Canada's LONGING FOR DAWN definitely fits the second definition,
their music is filled with melancholy and depressively crushing atmospheres
and is reminiscent of bands like Thergothon, Evoken or Morgion while
definitely adding their own unique touch to the genre. Solemn drumming,
spoken words, deep growls, monumental riffing and melancholic guitar
leads: all elements of true doom are there. But there is more, for
Longing For Dawn adds think layers of eerie Dark Ambient soundscapes
to the mix creating a very particular sound of their own. “A
Treacherous Ascension” resonates a profound atmosphere of despair
and is as compelling as a misty day in the throes of death and dying.
